I love Authors!

Yes, you might call me an author stalker...it all started when I got to hear Jon Scieszka present at our state reading conference. His stories about his childhood with five siblings...all boys...made me laugh so hard that I had tears in my eyes. He must've thought I was sort of a freak later when I approached him to autograph Robot Zot...unfortunately, that was before I had a high-quality cell phone, and well, the picture of us is on a memory stick that's probably in a landfill somewhere...but, if you asked him if he remembers the girl crying at the front of the room while he was visiting Texas, I'll bet he'd remember me...

I've also met Dan Yaccarino, author of The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau. His advice to aspiring authors was to "tell the story with pictures...all that's left to write is the words." He has a blog, too!

Who doesn't love The Great Fuzz Frenzy?! Susan Stevens Crummel, who writes books with her illustrator sister, Janet Stevens, did an amazing read-aloud during a visit to a local bookstore. She was a math teacher for over 30 years before delving into writing children's books.

Amanda M. Thrasher visited our elementary school! Then our district sponsored a book signing at a local bookstore of her book, Mischief in the Mushroom Patch, which is the first installment of the fairy series.
